• TRIENNALE BRUGES - IT ALL FLOWS…

    Bild 1

Sightseeing tip: until September 16th, everything in the Belgian city of Bruges will be dominated by water: "Liquid City" is the motto of this year's Triennial for contemporary art and architecture. Multimedia art, sculptures, and installations such as the Minne Floating School, a kind of floating classroom that has already won the Silver Lion in Venice, are mostly presented in the water or on the water surfaces of the city. One of the absolute highlights: the project "Skyscraper (The Bruges Whale)" by StudioKCA from Brooklyn. A whale made of five tons of plastic garbage rises from the canal at Jan-Van-Eyck-Platz as a warning. Its creators, Jason Klimoski and Leslie Chang of the design and architecture firm StudioKCA in Brooklyn, want to set an example against the global pollution of the oceans. Together with volunteers from the Hawaii Wildlife Fund and the Surfrider Foundation, they collected an enormous amount of plastic waste for their artwork from the beaches of Hawaii. The installation will move on after the Triennale. Further information: https://triennalebrugge.be
