Vegane und umweltfreundliche Outdoor Jacken

The fashion label ThokkThokk knows that more sustainability results from more innovations.

The latest highlight: Jackets filled with the vegan, and environmentally friendly down alternative Kapok. And on the outside: Hardwearing and tear-resistant nylon made from recycled fishing nets. This certified label knows how to create products without compromises and with great attention to detail.

For fashion lovers who have high demands on design, quality and the environmental awareness of the manufacturers, it is often not easy to find the right thing. A problem that VFX Johow was familiar with. It was with this fact in mind that the carpenter and furniture designer began to deal with design and experiment with textiles across disciplines. In 2006, the idea was born to found an own label called ThokkThokk and to produce individual, green and fair clothing.

At the beginning, the young brand concentrated on minimalist graphics printed on T-shirts using screen-printing techniques. After one of the motifs became a bestseller, further geometric designs were created. In the meantime the brand has grown and besides shirts ThokkThokk now offers a wide range - even underwear and socks are part of the portfolio - and the perfect outdoor jacket

Kapok - The vegan down alternative

The highlights are undoubtedly the innovative kapok-filled jackets manufactured in China by fairly paid workers. The vegan material is an environmentally and animal-friendly alternative to down. Kapok is the soft, extremely light hollow fiber of the Kapok tree. The special thing about kapok is that it insulates perfectly and has similar characteristics to downs. In addition, its natural wax layer makes it water-repellent and unattractive for moths and mites as well as antimicrobial and hypoallergenic. Kapok is a true miracle plant from a sustainability point of view! The wild growing tree fruit does not need artificial irrigation and grows without the use of pesticides. The fibers are biodegradable. The addition of recycled polyester keeps the kapok filling in shape. These great 'inner values' of the jackets are protected from the outside by extremely durable and tear-resistant nylon recycled from damaged fishing nets. A tree is planted in Mexico for every kapok product sold. A completely green product!

For Autumn Winter 2018 ThokkThokk continues to celebrate the fascinating kapok tree that the Maya believed stood at the center of the earth. The majestic tree roots deeply in the earth and with its gigantic branches reaches for the sky.

All other textiles (with the exception of socks, which are made in the Czech Republic) are produced in India by manufacturers with GOTS and Fair Trade certifications. This is where ThokkThokk also cooperates with the NGO Save, an organization that promotes women's and children's rights locally. "At the same time, we still print many T-shirts by ourselves in our printing facility in Munich". Only water-based, low-emission inks are used. The dyestuffs are all Ökotex-100 certified.

Kapok, also known as plant down, is the silky soft and extremely light hollow fiber of fruits of the kapok tree.

In addition to fair and ecological production, ThokkThokk sets a good example in all areas: recycling, energy from renewable energies, car sharing, CO2-neutral shipping, waste reduction, and even organic food are part of the everyday routine here.
